Engineering Internship- Houston

MAUSER USA LLC has opportunities for an Engineering Internship in its manufacturing plant in Houston, TX for the 2017 May-August season. This is a training opportunity that puts the employee through facets of manufacturing, quality and engineering.  The intern will be given an overview of the manufacturing engineering processes. The intern will also be exposed to computerized maintenance software such as ShopLogix which tells engineers and operations leaders how machines are running, where the bottlenecks are, and generally provides data and feedback on the health of the plant.

Main Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with plants on problem solving, assist with Engineering documentation and plant Engineer Projects.
  • Update drawings using AutoCAD or Solid Works
  • Assist with updating records using Shoplogix and E-Maintenance software.
  • Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and process flow for mechanical equipment and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment, Solid Works.
  • Travel to other metals plants for plant tours
  • Assemble drafts or technical procedures into finished documents when given a document format and the raw information (Documenting Changeover processes, creating standard work documents).

Key Attributes

  • Must be a recent engineering graduate or currently enrolled in a BSME, BSEE, or comparable engineering program
  • Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD and/or Solid Works platforms
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models
  • Active learning and active listening; giving full attention to what other people are saying and understanding the implications of new information
  • Critical thinking- using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Mathematical reasoning; Use mathematics to solve problems
  • Written comprehension- the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
