Purchasing Commodity Manager Steel/ Indirect (m/f)

The Purchasing Commodity Manager Steel/ Indirect role is responsible for optimizing the spend for European Purchases. The position holder reports directly to the Head of Purchasing Europe and has interfaces with global procurement on global steel category.

YOUR IDEAL PROFILE:

  • University/business school degree
  • 5+ years of purchasing management
  • Commodity experience for indirect and direct materials
  • Total Cost and Supplier Relationship Management experience
  • Project management skills
  • Good understanding of overall business context
  • English proficiency; additional European language would be a plus

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regional Spend Category Management Steel: Agree specifications with Suppliers and Mauser R&D; Develop sourcing strategy; Identify, negotiate and close deals with suppliers; Identify spot buying opportunities
  • Regional Spend Category Management indirect: Lead, train and improve the European team; Manage, negotiate and report Global Capex requirements and purchases; Develop sourcing strategy
  • Manage interactions with operations and sales: Obtain demand and production forecasts from European sites; Allocate demand across supplier portfolio; Oversee and optimize the P2P process
  • Further tasks: Develop and standardize Suppliers audit; Run quality and cost improvement projects with Suppliers; Preparation of report to leadership/shareholder; etc
